Monday 1/20/13

The temperature really took a dip last night. It's cold and windy outside now. If it's going to be this cold I wish we had snow to go with it. There must have been some ice or something on the expressway today because there was a 50 car pile up on the highway earlier today. I saw pictures of it on Facebook, and it was really a mess. We go out on Monday night to eat and I doubt if they will have that cleaned up by then but I think that is farther up that we have to go, anyway I think it is. I'm going to have to double check. I don't know if I told you that one of our grandsons is joining the Navy. It is Jake, the one who graduated last year from High School. He is the one that I've always said that I wanted to live long enough to see what he becomes because I always thought he had allot of potential and I always thought he could go far. Well he is. He is going into Nuclear Engineering and I just found out this past weekend that he signed up for not just 4 years but 6 years, and it really upset me. Jake has always be very special to me and to us I guess I should say. He is always so easy to talk to especially to Terry. He likes all the things Terry likes. Anything re History the Military, and also guns so whenever we see him he's always in deeps talks with Terry. Well when I found out that he'd be gone for 6 years it just crushed me. 4 years was long enough but 6, I just lost it and started crying. Every time I think about it I start crying again, I just can't help it. We've got 11 grandchildren and I love them all, but Jake is just so special and 6 years is so so long. I know he will get to come home on leave and whatever, but still, that's a long time. He leaves for boot camp the end of February, and we will get to go up to Chicago to see him graduate from boot camp and then he will go to the Carolina's to start training for Nuclear Engineering. We have been going and watching our one other grandson play basketball and we watched 2 others in wrestling matches on Saturday. One won 1st Place and got a gold medal. On Friday nite we went to a party on our daughter Patti's oldest son who turned 18. They surprised him at a local pub and all his friends and their friends and the grandparents were there too. Our son and his some of his family were there too. He was really surprised too. It was allot of fun. Even Patti's boss and his family came. They are really great folks too.

I sympathize with you on the grandson leaving for six years service. I know it is a great thing when they serve our country but I worry so when our loved ones go with all the turmoil going on now days. I take it your facebook is okay now? Saw you said you saw pictures on fb of traffic pile up?
