2/11/13
I hadn't realized that it had been so long since I'd blogged. Not that anything earth shattering has happened in my life to tell you about cause nothing has. Terry and I are just going along same as always but we have been busy with the grand kids. One of our daughters, her oldest, Jared has been given a scholarship. It's part football and part academic which I think is even better that just all football, but anyway it's to a small college down in Kentucky called Lindsey Wilson and he signed with them last Wednesday and we went down with them for his signing. It was very exciting for him and the whole family. It was a 3 1/2 hr drive each way and the signing was a 4:30 pm to give all the kids time to get there from all over the US that were signing. Then the trip home after a nice dinner, so it was a long day and a long drive home which did Terry's back in. He was hurting pretty bad by the time we got home. Just goes to show us that any long trips are out of the question for us any more.
Other than that we've been busy with our daughter's youngest son Adam who is in the 7th grade and has been in the finals for basketball. So we've been going to his games and rooting his team on. His last game was Saturday and they won the finals in the District for the State, so we are very proud of him and his team too. They each got individual trophy's and the teams got a big one too, and Adam was named all team all star. That was nice!! The school opted not to go all the way to state for some reason. Maybe next year. They sure had a great season and a great team with a good group of boys and parents and grandparents too. It's been a fun year with them all.
Other than that not much has been going on. I've been busy reading Ken Follett's Trilogy that he's got out now and it's been great. His third book isn't even out yet but I just finished his second book called "Winter of the Worlds" and it was as good as the first one and for the life of me I can't remember the name of that one. Both are huge books but have a great story line with allot of history mixed in. Usually I don't like history but this on I loved and really felt I learned allot too. The story and characters were so mixed in with the story line that it was great. I can't wait for book three to come out.

Monday 1/20/13
The temperature really took a dip last night. It's cold and windy outside now. If it's going to be this cold I wish we had snow to go with it. There must have been some ice or something on the expressway today because there was a 50 car pile up on the highway earlier today. I saw pictures of it on Facebook, and it was really a mess. We go out on Monday night to eat and I doubt if they will have that cleaned up by then but I think that is farther up that we have to go, anyway I think it is. I'm going to have to double check.
I don't know if I told you that one of our grandsons is joining the Navy. It is Jake, the one who graduated last year from High School. He is the one that I've always said that I wanted to live long enough to see what he becomes because I always thought he had allot of potential and I always thought he could go far. Well he is. He is going into Nuclear Engineering and I just found out this past weekend that he signed up for not just 4 years but 6 years, and it really upset me. Jake has always be very special to me and to us I guess I should say. He is always so easy to talk to especially to Terry. He likes all the things Terry likes. Anything re History the
Military, and also guns so whenever we see him he's always in deeps talks with Terry. Well when I found out that he'd be gone for 6 years it just crushed me. 4 years was long enough but 6, I just lost it and started crying. Every time I think about it I start crying again, I just can't help it. We've got 11 grandchildren and I love them all, but Jake is just so special and 6 years is so so long. I know he will get to come home on leave and whatever, but still, that's a long time. He leaves for boot camp the end of February, and we will get to go up to Chicago to see him graduate from boot camp and then he will go to the Carolina's to start training for Nuclear Engineering.
We have been going and watching our one other grandson play basketball and we watched 2 others in wrestling matches on Saturday. One won 1st Place and got a gold medal. On Friday nite we went to a party on our daughter Patti's oldest son who turned 18. They surprised him at a local pub and all his friends and their friends and the grandparents were there too. Our son and his some of his family were there too. He was really surprised too. It was allot of fun. Even Patti's boss and his family came. They are really great folks too.

1/2/13/
Sorry Lois I forgot again. Last week we went to our primary care doc for Terry one day and then the next day we both went to the dentist which I absolutely hate to do but we both knew we had cavities so we knew we had to go. Well on the way out I asked if it was OK to eat on the filling and they said yes but be careful that you don't bite on your lip because of the nova cane you won't be able to feel it. So we went home and I proceeded to have a bowl of soup and crackers and wam bam I proceeded to go right ahead and bite my lip. I didn't even realize it till later. Darn if that thing is not still sore. My lip was swollen for a few days and it is still a bit but only on the inside and it's still a bit sore. I know that sores inside your mouth are long in healing so shame on me. I'll never do that again and I thought I was really being careful too. What a dummy I am. Well it's kept me from eating much and that's been a good thing. Making sure I'm eating soft things.
Terry has been having trouble with his hearing or his hearing aid again again. He's been back to the audiologist and they rechecked his hearing and now he goes back to the EMT doctor tomorrow. I know he's not hearing real well, especially in groups. He only hears the one on his good side or the one in front of him and all the outside noise is terrible. I keep hoping they can help him or get him a different hearing aid that will work better. His one ear they can't do anything for at all. He's lost all hearing completely in that ear. At one time they mentioned getting Choler Implants and I think if they would mention it again he might go for it because he's sure not hearing very good this way. Well I'm hoping they can do something better for him. I feel sorry for him in groups, I can tell by the look on his face that he's not hearing what is being said by everyone, and not feeling part of the group. It's sad.
We've been going to a few basketball games for the grand kids once in awhile when the play a home courts. I don't know if I told you or not but the one Grand Son that graduated from HS last year has enlisted in the Navy and is going into Nuclear Engineering program. He leaves for basic training the end of February. This is one of my son's 8 kids, the 3rd one down and the first one to really know what he really wants to do. He and Terry have always been really really close and talk allot about things, always talking History and Military stuff, and I think he picked the Navy to follow in Grandpa's footsteps. Terry couldn't be prouder. He's the first one to go away and that's going to be hard the family and on us too.
Well I finally remembered and I wrote a nice long on for you. Hope your having a nice week. I'm sort of having a crummy one with my lip bothering me, but I'll live, I'm sure. Hugs.
Monday 1/14/13
I don't get it. I wrote a post last Wed. or Thurs. and it's not listed. Gosh and it was such a long one. I must not have saved it and now I can't even remember what I wrote about. I can't even remember now what I was going to write about now. Oh I know. Lois, I feel terrible, that I think I forgot your Anniversary. I haven't been on the computer much over the weekend because my Facebook is messed up. I was talking to a friend on the phone while I was on Facebook and I was scrolling up and down and all of a sudden it shrunk up on me. The whole thing and I can't figure out how to get it back to normal. The whole page doesn't cover the computer screen. It's only about 2-3 inches wide and the writing is so small that I can't even read it. The names on the right where it shows the names of the people on chat and so on is so small I can't read that either. I don't know what to do to get it back to normal. It's like the whole thing just shrunk up. Just Facebook. Everything else is fine. When I use my e-mail of something else on the computer it works fine. My son is out of town and is coming home Wednesday night and said he would stop over on his way home and see if he could figure it out. The airport is right by our house so he can stop before he heads home, but I had better call and remind him. I sure hope he can fix it.
I wish I could remember what I told you in last weeks blog. Oh it might have been that Terry is still having problems with his hearing aid and that we've been back and forth with the audiologist trying to get them adjusted so he can hear better. They are really trying hard with him but in a group it's really hard for him to hear especially when we go out to eat and they have music on and it gets so loud. He really has a hard time then. So do I sometimes. When it's one on one he's OK but groups are a problem and his right side is completely lost and there is nothing they can do for that. When watching TV he just reads the words. I guess it's all better than nothing at all.
Well Happy Anniversary a bit late. Your 50th, a very special one, and I miss it. I'm so sorry Lois.
Hugs. Judy

November 12th
Well I am all football out. We had 3 games this past weekend. I went to the one on Friday night for my one grandson and it was a really close one but they ended up losing. It was sad. I've never seen Jared cry but he did after the game as it might be his last football game, if he doesn't play in college. He's had a couple of colleges interested but who knows how interested they really are. It's a wait and see sort of thing. He's filled out his applications for the two schools that he'd like to go to, that showed an interest, so now I guess they just wait to see if they are really interested or not. We hope so. He's really pretty good. Anyway on Saturday there were two more games, one at 1pm that Terry went to and one at 6pm that Terry went to too, but I just didn't have it in me to go, so I just stayed home. One team lost and one team won. So now we only have one team still in playoffs and that's a college team and I think their game next week will be away. So I don't think we will be going to that one. Basketball will start after that but we don't have as many grandsons playing that as we had playing football and at least that is inside. Thank goodness.
Other than that things are pretty quiet around here. It sure is nice not having to listen to any more political commercials. I sure am glad that is over. I pray God will watch over our country and our President and guide him in what he does and lead him in the right direction.
We haven't had too bad of weather but I'm sure it's bound to change sooner or later and winter is going to be upon us and I'm not looking forward to it. Thanksgiving is coming up and we are having it here, but we are just having Patti and her family so it won't be bad. She's a big help and so is Terry so it should be nice. I'm really sort of looking forward to it.
I've started on an exercise program finally. I had Jared take my exercise bike downstairs with the treadmill and now I've been going down every other day and using each of them for 15 minutes each. Mentally it's making me feel better knowing that I'm doing something. Terry is still trying to talk me into going to the Y with him on Mon., Wed., and Fri., but I'd rather do it at home even though some of the machines he tells me about, I know would sure help me. I'm thinking about it, maybe. Right now I'll stick to what I'm doing for awhile and see how it goes.

Monday November 5th
What a terrible thing to happen to the east coast. Hurricane Sandy really made a mess of our states there. High water and winds really tore through New Jersey, Connecticut, and New York and probably a few other states coming up the east coast. Most of the pictures I saw were of those states and wow, what a mess. Water was 10 ft high and even went down into the subway system. I couldn't believe that. It's really going to take time for them to get that all cleaned up and sanitized and everything before they can get that back up and running. They said they are really going to be worried about diseases after this whole thing is over and done with and I can sure see why. All the rats in New York city were up and running all over the place. It's just sick to think about all the dirt and filth that is all over everything and how are they ever going to be able to get it all cleaned up? I don't think I ever want to go east any time soon. Even Pennsylvania and West Virginia were flooded too, but I didn't see many pictures of that so I don't know how bad it was there. I know even places in Ohio had bad storms and high waters too, even snow some places. Nature can sure be really nasty sometimes. All I can do is pray for the ones in the path of all that nastiness and count our blessings. Bad things happen to good people sometimes and I guess this is one of those time. How are all those people going to be able to get to their voting places on Tuesday? I guess they will figure something out. I sure hope so, cause I'm so fed up with all the political ads on TV that it's got to be over with. I've had my fill of them. All I can do now is pray that the right candidate wins for our country.
We've been busy routing our grandsons on in their football games. They are now in the playoffs and the games are really getting exciting. But the weather is getting really cold too. We went Friday night and we left in the 4th quarter cause I got so cold. I was wrapped up in everybody's blankets and I was still cold, so we left. Saturday night I stayed home and Terry went to a different grandsons game. Both nights they won, so they will be playing again next weekend. I'm hoping to get to go if it's not too cold. I'll try dressing a bit warmer too. I had on long johns but I guess I'm just too cold blooded. I like going to the games, they are really exciting, but I don't like getting that cold.

October 22nd
It's Monday and I remembered I'm supposed to post. Well lets see what can I tell you about. Not much has been going on this past week. Terry's cousin Alan stopped through on his way to Florida and stayed two nights and we had dinner with Terry's brother and his family which was nice. We don't get to see them much, so it was great to seem then all. Well it was only Terry's brothers son, wife and two little girls who are cute as a button. They are I'd say 8 and 6. Then next night Patti and her family came over for dinner and Alan got to see them too. Usually Alan stays for a week but this time he only stopped by for 2days. He was anxious to get to Florida. I can't say as I blame him. I wouldn't mine going myself if I had a home down there. Well I wouldn't want to go until after Christmas if it was me though.
We didn't go to any football games this week and I'm glad we didn't as Friday night was cold and rainy and I know I would have froze. A Saturday game would have been OK but our grandson that plays on Saturday played out of town. So much for football.
Terry and I did take one day last week and drove down into Kentucky a ways to a gun store that someone had told him about that he wanted to check out. It was a nice day and we really had nothing else to do so we just took off. I took my book with me that I'm reading and I read while he was in the gun store. Afterwards we went to General Butler State Park for lunch. They have a very nice lodge there with a nice restaurant and a buffet lunch and dinner. So we had lunch there. It was very good. It was a nice day. Just to do something different and to get away from the house was nice. We have done this before and have found it just nice to do for a change of pace.
